Judicial Opinion Writing is a SCOTUS case study strategy in which students consider a case by carefully reviewing relevant constitutional provisions/statutes/precedents and the arguments for each side. They then decide if they will find for the petitioner or the respondent and write the Court’s majority opinion explaining their reasons for the decision.

In this classroom-ready activity, students will write the Court’s majority opinion in Dickerson v. United States (2000).
